Help for a Healthy Pregnancy and Postpartum Recovery
A woman’s body goes through many changes before, during and after pregnancy. Regular chiropractic care is crucial to supporting your body during this time.
Chiropractic care helps to balance your spine, pelvis and nervous system to keep stress from affecting your body. When your body is free of stress, it can function at its peak. Safe, gentle chiropractic care helps your nervous system work optimally to give your baby the best opportunity to develop.
Dr. Stacy Kitchell is certified in Webster Technique. This technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment, which supports a woman during pregnancy. Learn more about this certification below.

Postpartum Care During the Fourth Trimester
The postpartum period is also called the fourth trimester. It’s the 12-week period immediately after you have your baby. While not everyone has heard of it, every mother and their newborn baby goes through it. Much physical and emotional change occurs during this time. Your baby is adjusting to being outside the womb. You are adjusting to your new life as a mom.
Chiropractic care can help both mom and baby during this time.
Benefits include:
- Realign the spine and pelvis
- Relieve tension in the neck and upper back, commonly cause by fatigue and looking down at your baby (sometimes called “newborn neck”)
- Adjustments during the crucial three months following delivery, when you are still producing relaxin, help prime your body to return to its pre-pregnancy condition
What is Webster Technique?
Webster Technique was developed by Dr. Larry Webster, a professor at Life Chiropractic University, specifically for treatment of women during pregnancy. This safe, gentle, non-invasive method has been taught to hundreds of chiropractors and the technique has been in use for decades. The technique is evidenced based – supported by many peer-reviewed articles showing its effectiveness in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Dr. Stacy Kitchell is certified in the Webster Technique through the ICPA.
The ICPA is the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and was founded by Dr. Webster. She has been using the technique with patients for more than 10 years.
How Does Webster Technique Work?
Using safe and gentle techniques, Dr. Kitchell focuses on removing nerve interference from the mom’s nervous system, balancing her pelvis and removing intrauterine constraint allowing for baby to have more freedom while in utero!
With regular chiropractic adjustments women have the potential to experience more comfortable pregnancies, shorter average labor times, fewer interventions, more energy, better sleep, and encouraged proper fetal positioning.
Giving Baby More Room with Webster
Pelvic balance is important during pregnancy, as it allows for the proper amount of space for the baby to grow and develop in the uterus. As you move into your third trimester, the baby will need to turn into the proper position for delivery. Breech presentation may be due to the baby not having the space to do so.
Supporting an Easier Labor and Delivery
Chiropractic care helps provide an easier labor and delivery as well as natural pain relief due to the rigors of pregnancy and childbirth. The Webster technique is a chiropractic analysis and adjustment which realigns the pelvis and helps restore ligament function. This adjustment helps prevent torsion to the uterus and potential intrauterine constraint allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth.
Women who received chiropractic adjustments in their third trimester were able to carry and deliver their child with much more comfort.
